Please Help Zafer’s family medical emergency

Dear friends,

As a few of you know Zafer Onay and his father went to the hospital in Dogubayazit yesterday (Friday, February 5th) as both of them were not feeling well. The doctors informed Zafer that his father’s one lung isn’t working and the other has cancer and that his heart is enlarged as well. This coming Monday Zafer is making an emergency trip to Erzurum to take his father to the bigger university hospital for further testing and to see what they can do. They will stay in Erzurum (about 3 hours from Dogubayazit) for as long as it takes to do all the tests and consultations. Zafer and his family and relatives are looking for help with the expenses for this medical emergency.

As you know Zafer is our government liaison, Turkish guide, translator, driver and most importantly friend and brother in Christ. I’ve known him since 1997 and we have both helped each other out a lot over the years with the ark research and in our friendship. If you have met Zafer on our tours and during our research you will know how dedicated he is to his family and to the Noah’s ark research we are doing. If you are able to help his family out in any small financial way please consider a donation here that I can get to him this coming week. I know the whole family will appreciate it. His father and mother are the kindest people I’ve met and when my mother passed away and my father was murdered the same day a few years ago his parents came to Zafer’s house when I had arrived there a month after the funeral and they visited with me there. I’ve been to their home in Dogubayazit as well a number of times and his mother is an amazing cook! His father was the first camera person for the city of Dogubayazit and was even there filming on site in 1987 when the Noah’s ark site was dedicated as a national park and the visitor center’s foundation was laid!

With respect to anonymous gifts, Discovered Sinai/Discovered Media/Andrew Jones will restrict information about the donor to only those staff members with a need to know.

Discovered Sinai will not compensate, whether through commissions, finders’ fees, or other means, any third party for directing a gift or a donor to Discovered Sinai.
